Zur Fragilität von Archiven:

In mid-July, workers from the office of Guatemala's human rights ombudsman discovered, in a police base, stacks and stacks of files - apparently, the complete files of the National Police. The files date back to 1902 - but significantly, they cover the 36-year period of Guatemala's civil war, which ended in 1996. During the war, 200,000 people were killed and 50,000 forced to disappear.
